Implacable Hatred

Today isn't the day 
to scream about 
injustice on the 
internet 

Today isn't the day 
to seek revenge 
you can put away 
the AK-47 

Today is like 
any other day 
neither glorious 
or tragic 

Odysseus 
survived 
the battle 
of Troy 
just like we'll 
survive this 

The gods 
couldn't seem 
to reach 
a consensus 
on Odysseus 

Some imposed 
curses 
others bestowed 
favors 

He had to slaughter men 
and outwit gods 
to return to Penelope 
who forever remained 
faithful 

A twenty year struggle 
was an exercise 
in patience 

In order to 
secure victory 
first he had to 
conquer his anger 

When the moment 
was right 
blood flowed 
like a river 
he recaptured 
Penelope from 
108 suitors 

Today isn't the day 
and tomorrow 
may not be 
either 

When the day 
finally arrives 
they'll receive our 
implacable hatred
